Well, today we found out that Mo has kennel cough. She has been making the most awful coughing noises since Friday evening, so my mom finally took her to the vet today. At first, Mom couldn't figure out why Mo would have kennel cough- she hasn't been to a kennel since the day we brought her home from the Humane Society. Then it clicked. When Samwise and Aunt Mel were staying with us, waiting for Aunt Mel's floors to get finished, Samwise decided to take an un-chaperoned stroll through the neighborhood. As he was enjoying the beautiful day, a neighbor stopped him and read the address on his collar. Obviously, it was from the other side of town, so she couldn't just walk him over to our house. Apparently she needed to go somewhere and didn't want to leave this unknown dog in her house, so called the Humane Society. They went to pick up Sam from only the other side of the block and took him to the Humane Society. Unfortuanately, we didn't find out where he was until 7:00 when Aunt Mel finally battled her way through all her piled-up furniture to her answering machine. She immediately called the Humane Society who said that the offices had closed at 6:00 and therefore she couldn't get Sam back until the next morning when they re-opened. So Sam stayed a night at the Humane Society. It was then that he contracted kennel cough. My dad picked him up the next day because Aunt Mel had left for Chicago for the marathon that she unfortunately didn't get to finish because of the heat. When he came back, he spent the rest of the weekend with us, so Mo had plenty of time to catch the highly contagious virus from him. And here we are. Molasses is on an atiobiotic, as well as Robitussen. Yeah, my dog is taking the same cough medicine I would take if I had a cough. Wow.
Kisses,
Abbsters
