i'm NOT saying that's what that car looks like. I'm saying those are some other words for cute.

Abby! Look at the hard lines around the headlamps, the boxy grill, its lean stance, the style line coming back across the door!! These are not cute, bubbly lines.

'Cute' implies that the car is soft and kind, but not powerful. The Accord Coupe concept shown sharp and aggressive.

This is a 'cute' car:

you guys all have problems. a car's a car as long as it brings you to the place you have to go. it's not a work of art, an amazing and stunning whatever. it's a car.

Kathryn, I beg to differ. Think of the many times you've heard a meal called 'a work of art', but isn't it just food? Is a book just a bunch of words? They have some extra element of style and beauty. Desks can be works of art; gardens can be works of art! Cars can too.

A BOOK IS NOT JUST A BUNCH OF WORDS.I repeat, A BOOK IS NOT JUST A BUNCH OF WORDS. It can lead you on adventures you never dreamed of, it can change your perspective of life. if well written each page is a nugget of gold. cars. an ugly metal machine which pours out carbon dioxide into the air and you think that it's a work of art. people lived for century after century without cars BUT writing is a well known custom ancient and throughout history we can see civilation as it becomes more cultavated as well as more great works of literature are givien to us. Think about it. How long does a good book last for? How old is the Bible? How long does a car last for? How old is your car?

p.s. you spelled rapelling wrong in your tennessee movie.

p.p.s. I've never heard a meal called a work of art. I've heard my mom say she put a lot of work into a meal but calling a meal a work of art is really going a little far, don't you think? you EAT food. call it a work of art and your stomach will revolt with ideas of linseed oil being churned around in itself.

actually, there are two different kinds of rappelling. there's repelling and there's rappelling.

rappelling the kind that kyle meant to write on his ten. movie:
n. A descent of a vertical surface, as a cliff or wall, by sliding down a belayed rope that is passed under one thigh and over the opposite shoulder or through a device that provides friction, typically while facing the surface and performing a series of short backward leaps to control the descent.

and on the p.s. it was just a typo but i DO know that rappelling has a double p. I was just typing way too fast because i was righteously mad about a book is just a bunch of words.

re·pel /rɪˈpɛl/ [ri-pel] verb, -pelled, -pel·ling.

2. to thrust back or away.
3. to resist effectively (an attack, onslaught, etc.).
4. to keep off or out; fail to mix with: Water and oil repel each other.
5. to resist the absorption or passage of (water or other liquid): This coat repels rain.

Sushi is a work of art. This is true. If you go out and get a fancy salad, you could argue that its a work of art. Cars are, believe it or not, designed by college graduates with art degrees. Could could call them artists? Well, technically, yes. But sometimes we think their art stinks. This isn't the point though. When a car displays a well executed design theme that is pleasing, this is when it is closer to art than machine. While it serves a purpose, it still has the aura! Think of some chairs you've seen...or check out this link.

Thank you for pointing out the correct spelling of both rappelling and repelling. Please forgive me for the numerous times I'll have misspelled your name in the dvd.

sushi's nasty. however, i strongly believe that to have a work of art, your peraonality needs to be thrown into your final product, that you need to give it a soul and a certain feel which is always present in your art. and i'm guessing that people who design cars are basing the designs on what everyone else will accept as 'cute' right? so when you do REAL art, what it really is is a representation of your current feelings and inner turmoils. cars may be considered by some as a work of art but they can never truly be that unless they posses in them the essence that all true art most posess. also, when you make a certain car, you don't just make one, you make a lot at one time. art can be reproduced but the origanal still has a more magical and artistic feel to it. you are then seeing the results of true art.

Annie, thank you for your support, though I'm a bit wary on your emphasis on 'cute'. Kathryn, perhaps this is the one thing we agree to disagree on. Clearly I appreciate the modern, while you have a penchant for the classics. We will discuss more at Light House, for now, I must go work.
